Action Plan re Leadership

This task builds on the work undertaken in class, where students used a range of creative

techniques to start to explore their current situation in relation to their own personal leadership

skills, values and aspirations.

The intention of the in-class activities is to aid students in identifying development issues relevant

to their own particular circumstances and aspirations, and to support students initiating and

evaluating appropriate skills development activities through weeks 4 to 10. In week 10 class

activities will focus on students evaluating the effects of these programs and drawing on their

learnings to construct a specific 12 month action plan for themselves in relation to further

leadership skills development.

While the assessment for this task takes the form of an individual presentation and submission of

an individual action plan, students will continue to work in their dyads, supporting each other with

this learning task. Taking it in turn to work in focal and ear’s roles in their dyads, students will have

until Week 11 or 12 to accomplish the following:

? explore and evaluate each other’s strengths and weaknesses, preferences and

expectations with regard to the development of leadership skills

? initiate some tentative skills development exercises / activities for each other and do some

preliminary assessment of the effects of those programs on the focal students

? relate the leadership style issues to the focal role’s personal and career aspirations over

the next three to five years

Note: At least 11 Goal setting in Action Plan. First 2 pages table of goals and last 4 pages explain each goal from table, explore and evaluate each other’s strengths and weaknesses, preferences and expectations with regard to the development of leadership skills.
