Supply chain mapping is “the process of accounting for every material, every process and every shipment involved in bringing goods and/or services to market” (Source: http://www.sourcemap.com). The main aim of this assignment is to make you think in “who-what-where-when-how” terms. After selecting a “real” company/organisation from any sector (e.g. Manufacturing / Services; Large / SME / Family Owned / Public Service), you are expected to: 1. Conduct a detailed analysis of organisation’s supply chain. 2. Describe the key processes for this organisation, paying particular attention to supply chain/logistics processes and/or how these processes impact on organisations performance. 3. Critically comment on the efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain/logistics processes with the aim of identifying opportunities for cost/time removals and/or value adding along the supply chain. Possible sources of collecting information may include: a) a questionnaire designed by you and/or b)an interview/discussion with a manager, and/or c) specific documentation from the organisation and/or d) publicly available secondary material for the organisation.
