As we move into primaries season for next year’s presidential election

Question
As we move into primaries season for next year’s presidential election, each party has a number of candidates making the case for his or her nomination to the party’s ticket in November. Although there are a range of positions on a variety of issues, Democratic and Republican candidates generally represent the views of their respective parties. So that we might take a closer look at the relative positions of each party, you will be doing a comparison of candidates running in the current primaries.

To complete this assignment, you must first chose a legitimate candidate (one who has a statistically significant standing in national polls) from each primary. You then must pick 5 separate issues that are important to you and/or significant in today’s political climate. Using primary source evidence—perhaps a direct quotation from a speech, interview, press release, etc.—contrast each candidate’s position on each issue, including WHY the candidate has this position. Next, predict how well each candidate will do in their respective primary and WHY you believe this is the case (you may have to do a little research to give me an informed hypothesis)

.

a short paragraph of a few sentences for each will be good.
